How LNH Stats are calculated

  • A Single, Double or Triple is where you end up with the exception of over throws. So for example if you hit a Ground ball to Shortstop and it goes through his legs and you get to second base, that’s a double. If you hit a Ground ball to Shortstop and he sails it over the 1B head into the stands that is a single. We do not count Errors unless it’s a Home Run.
  • A Home Run is over the fence, A Umpire called 4 Base Error that ends up over the fence or a Clean inside the Park Home Run. A Clean inside the park Home Run is defined as A Gap, A line, A lucky bounce off the wall, or over the head of an Outfield defender only. If it’s off someone’s glove, a reachable ball, a grounder through the legs, or a throwing error it will count as a Triple.
  • Sac Fly is now an out with an Rbi and no longer 0-0. It is now 0-1.
  • A Walk is counted as a 1-1 towards your Batting Average & your batting average and On Base Percentage will always be the same
  • A Strikeout is counted if you swing and miss or strike out looking. (K)
  • A Foul out is counted if you foul out. (FO)
  • A fielder’s choice is when the defender elects to get another base runner out instead of you. For example man on first, ground ball to SS, and he throws to 2B to get the force runner. This is counted as an out.
  • An out in any way shape or form is an out. Home Run outs, pop ups, fly outs, Strike Outs, Foul Outs, ground outs, Sac Fly or step on the plate.
  • A Double Play is counted towards the batters record only if it’s a ground ball to a defender and they get 2 outs. If the outs come from base runners mistake it is just recorded as an out. For example if batter hits fly ball to RF and runner on 1B trys to advance to 2B and gets thrown out. A Double play now counts as 2 Outs towards the batter (0-2)
  • A base running mistake is counted as an additional 0-1 for the runner. This also goes for a player who gets thrown out trying to stretch a base. For example if you hit a single and try stretching it into a double, you will receive a single and then an additional 0-1. Being picked off, the ball hitting you, taking an extra base and getting thrown out, leaving early on a tag are all base running mistakes.
  • If the coach asks you to purposely take the out, this will not count as an at bat and your stat would be 0-0.
  • An RBI is when you drive in a run
  • A run is when you score a run
  • Pinch runners now count towards the runner who pinch ran if they score a run not the batter
  • Batting Average is calculated Hits/Walks Divided By At Bats. So if you were 6 for 10, your average would be .600
  • On Base Percentage will now end up to be the same as your average
  • Slugging percentage is calculated by Total Bases Divided by At Bats. A single is 1 total base, double 2, triple 3, Home Run 4. So if your total bases where 10 and you had 8 at bats your slugging percentage would be 10 Divided by 8 = 1.250
  • Your OPS is your On Base Percentage + Slugging Percentage combined. So if your On Base Percentage is .615 and your slugging percentage was 1.250 your OPS would be 1.865
  • Offensive MVP is determined by highest OPS
  • A minimum of 40 At Bats is required to qualify for Batting Average and OPS
  • A minimum of 40 Plate Appearances is required to qualify for On Base Percentage
  • Coach shall determine Gold Glove Award based on his opinion on best defensive player
  • A solo Home Run is counted as 1-1 single with an RBI. We want to save Home Runs for minimum of 1 guy on and would rather the batter just focus on getting on base or an extra base hit. A double would actually statistically do more for the batters stats with the 2 or 3 bases as opposed to the 1 base from the Solo Home Run
  • Hitting middle and being called out by the ump is now counted as 2 outs in the book. We are very against middle shots.
  • Yankee stadium in the Summer time has unbearable sun for batters at 6 & 7 PM. No LNH stats will be forgiven as players have been dealing with this since 2013. All stats count.
  • A strike out swinging or looking also counts as 2 outs in the book
  • A walk off is worth double stats in the RBI category. For example a walk off double that drives in 2 runs, that player will receive 4 RBI’s
  • A Courtesy swing is counted as 0-1 per courtesy swing. This is only allowed in placement game
